The story behind the photo
In the first days of September, a thin morning mist settled over the forest of Rambouillet and turned the light silvery and soft. The sun was somewhere behind it, low enough for the light to come through horizontally, filtering between a stand of ancient oak trunks until each one seemed to glow faintly from within. The bark was still damp from the night, deepening every brown and green.
I framed with almost no foreground, which is unusual for me and necessary here. The mist turns the wood into a series of pale grey planes, and everything depends on the separation between one rank of trees and the next, a separation made entirely of fog and distance. A single sharp branch near the lens would have destroyed it by giving the eye somewhere definite to land.
The whole clearing held the particular hush of a place caught between seasons: summer not quite finished, autumn not yet arrived, everything paused for one morning in between.

Materials
Hahnemühle fine art papers (Photo Rag, Museum Etching, Fine Art Baryta…), chosen for each photograph.
Print mounted on 3 mm aluminium Dibond: rigid, light, no glazing.
Print set between 3 mm Dibond and an acrylic sheet: richer colour and depth, resistant to UV and humidity.
Framing, optional
For paper prints: white mount and Plexiglas glazing, museum glass optional.
For aluminium and acrylic: the photo seems to float inside its frame; black or white.
For aluminium and acrylic: an aluminium structure fixed to the back, invisible once hung.
Delivery and returns
Signed-for delivery by Colissimo or, depending on the country, to a pickup point; signed-for delivery by courier for Large and Extra large sizes and some framed prints. Usually two to three weeks in mainland France and Europe, thirty to forty-five days for the French overseas territories and other countries.
