The story behind the photo
A path deep in red leaves runs the full height of the frame and ends at a stone arch with daylight standing inside it. The trees have closed over the track and the whole tunnel has gone the same rust colour, so the opening reads as the only exit.
I framed vertically and very low, almost at the level of the leaves, so the path fills the bottom half as a solid mass of colour. The lower you go, the longer the track becomes and the further away the arch retreats, which is precisely the effect I wanted.
Two figures stand in the opening, tiny and close together. I waited for people to walk into it because the arch alone is a curiosity; with two silhouettes in it, the picture acquires a direction of travel and, whether I intended it or not, a small story.
Autumn in this forest lasts about ten days at this intensity, and I had been watching the track for a week. The colour is not enhanced: that is simply what a beech and oak path looks like when the leaves are down and still dry, before the first serious rain turns everything brown.

Materials
Hahnemühle fine art papers (Photo Rag, Museum Etching, Fine Art Baryta…), chosen for each photograph.
Print mounted on 3 mm aluminium Dibond: rigid, light, no glazing.
Print set between 3 mm Dibond and an acrylic sheet: richer colour and depth, resistant to UV and humidity.
Framing, optional
For paper prints: white mount and Plexiglas glazing, museum glass optional.
For aluminium and acrylic: the photo seems to float inside its frame; black or white.
For aluminium and acrylic: an aluminium structure fixed to the back, invisible once hung.
Delivery and returns
Signed-for delivery by Colissimo or, depending on the country, to a pickup point; signed-for delivery by courier for Large and Extra large sizes and some framed prints. Usually two to three weeks in mainland France and Europe, thirty to forty-five days for the French overseas territories and other countries.
