Cross the sky
- 📍 Location: Near Rennemoulin, Yvelines, France
- 📅 Date: February 2025
In an open field near Rennemoulin, a single white door frame stands with nothing beside it: no wall, no house, just grass and open sky, untouched by any purpose it might once have had. I found it at sunset, right as a wave of red cloud swept overhead, and this ordinary, forgotten object suddenly looked like a threshold into somewhere else entirely.
People who see this image almost always ask what’s on the other side of the door, and I’ve come to enjoy that I genuinely don’t have an answer. It’s one of the simplest compositions I’ve ever built a photograph around, and also one of the ones I get asked about the most.
