The story behind the photo
A trail of footprints leads across the crest of the Dune du Pilat, Europe’s tallest sand dune, out towards the point where the sand drops away, with the Banc d’Arguin below. I photographed it in May 2025 at sunset, shortly after a brief shower had left the surface faintly sheened, while the sky filled with a deep violet that seemed to hang just above the dune rather than behind it.
The wind had combed the whole crest into regular ripples and the low sun was raking across them, so every ridge had a lit side and a shadowed one. I framed along the spine of the dune, with the ripples running towards the viewer. A dune at this hour is as close to pure texture as a landscape gets.
To the left, the dark line of the Landes forest held its ground against all that colour, and for a few minutes the whole enormous shape of the dune felt like a held breath before the light let go.

Materials
Hahnemühle fine art papers (Photo Rag, Museum Etching, Fine Art Baryta…), chosen for each photograph.
Print mounted on 3 mm aluminium Dibond: rigid, light, no glazing.
Print set between 3 mm Dibond and an acrylic sheet: richer colour and depth, resistant to UV and humidity.
Framing, optional
For paper prints: white mount and Plexiglas glazing, museum glass optional.
For aluminium and acrylic: the photo seems to float inside its frame; black or white.
For aluminium and acrylic: an aluminium structure fixed to the back, invisible once hung.
Delivery and returns
Signed-for delivery by Colissimo or, depending on the country, to a pickup point; signed-for delivery by courier for Large and Extra large sizes and some framed prints. Usually two to three weeks in mainland France and Europe, thirty to forty-five days for the French overseas territories and other countries.
